Procedure
Non-Objective Project
Using
Line and Rhythm to Create a
Nonobjective Design
Day
1 and 2 -- Students should have
covered line and rhythm pretty thoroughly by now.
It is also important that they define, understand look at examples of
non-objective art.
There
is a chapter in the book on painting that goes over Non-objective art. I go over
this chapter as a class with a worksheet.
The art project is presented in a sort of art problem.
I
also think that it is important that students understand that visual problems
can often be solved in innumerable ways and that they should solve them in their
own style. The problem is then
presented and explained.
The
Problem
With
no less than 10 line types, create a non-objective design which shows rhythm and
movement. Cover your whole sheet of
paper and demonstrate at least 3 different types of rhythm in your design.
Thumbnail
sketches should be covered and students should be able to make 4 correct
thumbnail sketches.
The procedure
of using a pencil to sketch in their first lines and markers to draw and color
them in afterward should be covered. Final
products can be mounted and hung.
