Art Basics Book

The Elements and Principles of Art

The book that you are making will count as a project grade. You will only do about 5 projects during the Semester and they count 40% of your grade. Be aware that these are considered the most important parts of your course.

Step 1

Your book should be composed of 8 sheets of paper. Each sheet should be scored 1/2 inch from the left side and bent to create a binder.

Step 2

Punch holes in the binder crease of the book in order to string yarn through.

Step 3

Push the yarn through the holes from the inside to the outside and tie on the back. You can get creative with this if you like.

Step 4

Neatly, using rulers, crayons, markers, etc. (your choice )design and decorate your book cover. You must used mixed media. Write the name of the booklet on the front along with your own name. You can see some examples of student covers here.

Step 5

Using the projects that you have done in class as examples, illustrate and write your book. There should be an example and the exact definition written as it is on your practice test or from the glossary of the Art Talk book on each page in the following order as illustrated.

Pages 1 and 2

Pages 3 and 4
