Syllabus
Objectives:
We will cover the following topics and subjects:
- The vocabulary and language of art
- The elements of art and principles of design
- Art criticism and theories of art
- Aesthetics
- Use of media, methods and techniques to create art
- Historical periods of art
Requirements:
- Art Notebook -- You will keep a notebook containing all handouts and notes
taken on reading assignments, lectures, films and demonstrations.
- Participation/ Life Skills -- Be present for class, take part in
discussions, make efficient use of time during class work sessions.
- Competence -- You should demonstrate competence by completing all
sketches, work sheets and major assignments.
- Responsibility -- Be responsible for tools, supplies and the studio work
area.
Grading:
35% -- Projects and major assignments
10% -- Tests and quizzes
25% -- Class work such as worksheets and notes and Notebook checks (notebooks
must be in order).
15% -- Final Exam
15% -- Life Skills
Incomplete assignments will be averaged as a "0".
