Making a Pinhole CameraWe make a pinhole camera from cardboard. I create a template from poster board and have students trace it onto the side of a cardboard box. Using box cutters and cutting boards (to protect my tabletops) they cut out their cameras and construct them using paper tape. A film plane is made to fit about 3" from one side of the box and about 5 1/2" from the other side. The "lens" apertures are made from aluminum soft drink cans. We use a pin or needle to push a hole in the middle of an aluminum square and sand down the resulting burr on the back side with fine sandpaper. In this manner, we can take 2 pictures with our camera before bringing it in to develop.how to make a pinhole camera from a 126 film cartridge Making a Pinhole Camera with a Removable Back Designing the Outside of Our CamerasWe review rhythm and pattern while designing the outside of our cameras.
